Tech bootcamp provider achieves ‘Strong standard’ in Ofsted inspection

Digital skills training provider Tech Educators has been awarded a ‘Strong standard’ rating by Ofsted following its latest inspection, recognising the quality of its training programmes and its work supporting adults across the UK into careers in the technology sector.

The inspection found the independent learning provider is working above the standard expected of education providers, with inspectors highlighting its inclusive learning environment, welcoming culture and strong leadership from instructors who bring current industry expertise into their teaching.

Specifically, inspectors praised Tech Educators’ leaders as ‘advocates for widening participation’, prioritising recruitment from groups underrepresented in the technology sector and learners who are harder to reach due to socioeconomic disadvantage. “They place inclusion, high expectations and learners at the centre of all decision making,” the report said.

James Charles Adams, Founder and CEO of Tech Educators, said: “Receiving a ‘Strong standard’ from Ofsted is a huge moment for our team and a reflection of the dedication our instructors and staff show to learners every day.

“The UK faces a significant digital skills shortage and the people who are most often locked out of the tech sector are those who would benefit most from the opportunities it offers. Our focus has always been on opening those doors – helping people from all backgrounds gain the practical skills and confidence needed to build long-term careers in technology.”

The recognition comes as digital skills requirements have doubled in job postings over the past decade, with nearly 39 % of all UK job listings now highlighting a need for digital competencies, according to recent research. Meanwhile, 76% of UK employers are struggling to fill roles due to skills shortages; a gap that’s faced employers for over a decade now.

Tech Educators, which is headquartered in Norwich and also operates in Cambridge and Hull, currently supports more than 150 adult learners through short intensive training programmes designed to help people move into digital careers.

Many start their course with little or no previous experience, before progressing to develop practical skills in areas such as software development, digital marketing, AI and data analysis.

Inspectors reported that learners ‘make extensive progress from their starting points’ and produce work of a ‘very high standard’, with the majority going on to secure employment or strengthen their business operations after completing their courses.

With the organisation now looking to expand its impact, Adams added: “Over the coming years, our ambition is to build on our bootcamp success and become a leading provider of Adult Skills Funded Learning across the UK, supporting to develop pathways into a career in tech. With flexible, instructor-led learning, we can help more people access high-quality digital education regardless of their location or circumstances.”

The milestone comes shortly after the company strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Rebecca Harris as Chief Marketing Officer, as Tech Educators looks to raise its profile and expand partnerships with employers, local authorities and skills bodies.

Tech Educators’ programmes typically run between 10 and 16 weeks and combine technical training with careers support, including CV guidance, interview preparation and ongoing alumni support.
