Queen’s University Belfast and CloudGuard partner on AI cybersecurity research

Queen’s University Belfast’s CSIT and CloudGuard have joined forces through the Cyber-AI Hub to explore how Artificial Intelligence can strengthen Security Operations Centres.

Queen’s University Belfast’s Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT) has announced a new partnership with CloudGuard through the Cyber-AI Hub to advance research into AI-powered cybersecurity.

The collaboration will examine how Artificial Intelligence can improve the effectiveness of Security Operations Centres (SOCs), bringing together CloudGuard’s operational expertise with CSIT’s research in Trustworthy AI and cybersecurity.

The partnership forms part of CSIT’s Cyber-AI Hub, which connects industry and academia to address real-world cybersecurity challenges. The initiative aims to accelerate the development of AI-enabled security technologies while strengthening Northern Ireland’s cybersecurity ecosystem.

The organisations will investigate new approaches to creating more intelligent and responsive security operations through collaborative research and innovation.

“The Cyber-AI Hub is designed to bring together researchers and industry to solve real-world cyber security challenges through collaborative innovation,” said Judith Millar, Operations Director, CSIT.

“We are delighted to welcome CloudGuard to the Hub and look forward to working together to explore how AI can enhance security operations and support the next generation of intelligent cyber defence capabilities.”

Conor Mallon, Chief Operating Officer, CloudGuard, said the partnership would combine operational experience with academic research to develop practical AI solutions for SOC teams.

“Security Operations Centres are under growing pressure to keep pace with increasingly sophisticated threats, and we believe AI has a critical role to play in helping analysts work smarter and respond faster.”
