Khalifa University showcases UAE AI research at UN AI for Good Global Summit

Khalifa University presented its latest Artificial Intelligence and telecommunications research at the United Nations’ AI for Good Global Summit, highlighting UAE-developed technologies supporting responsible AI and next-generation communications.

Khalifa University showcased its latest UAE-developed Artificial Intelligence research and telecommunications innovations at the AI for Good Global Summit 2026, the United Nations’ flagship event focused on the role of AI in addressing global challenges.

The summit, organised by the International Telecommunication Union in partnership with more than 50 UN agencies and the Swiss Government, brought together researchers, policymakers and industry leaders to discuss the future of Artificial Intelligence.

During the event, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cyber Security for the UAE Government, met Khalifa University researchers to discuss projects supporting national innovation, cybersecurity and Digital Transformation.

The University’s delegation included Professor Mérouane Debbah, Founding Senior Director, Digital Future Institute, Dr. Lina Bariah, Research Scientist, Computer and Information Engineering, and Dr. Brahim Mefgouda, Postdoctoral Fellow, Computer and Information Engineering.

Professor Debbah delivered a presentation on the future of AI-native communication networks, examining how emerging AI systems are evolving beyond language understanding to interpret real-world environments and support autonomous communications.

Dr. Bariah also participated in a panel exploring AI security, connectivity and responsible access to emerging AI technologies.

At the exhibition, Khalifa University demonstrated TelecomGPT-Arabic, a collaborative initiative developed with du and the International Telecommunication Union to advance Arabic-language AI for the telecommunications sector.

Professor Mérouane Debbah said: “AI for Good brings together researchers, industry leaders, policymakers and international organisations to explore how Artificial Intelligence can address some of society’s most important challenges. It provided an excellent platform to showcase the innovative work taking place at Khalifa University, strengthen international collaborations and demonstrate how research developed in the UAE is contributing to the future of intelligent communications, responsible AI and Digital Transformation.”
