Manhattan University is introducing a new Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity designed to provide students with technical and practical experience in protecting networks, information systems and digital infrastructure.
Manhattan University is launching a new Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity as it expands its portfolio of computing, Artificial Intelligence and data-focused degree programmes.
The 128-credit programme, which will debut in autumn 2026, will be housed within the Computer Science Department in the University’s Kakos School of Arts and Sciences. It has been approved by the New York State Education Department.
The degree is designed to combine technical foundations with hands-on cybersecurity experience, preparing students to identify, defend against and respond to emerging digital threats.
Students will initially develop programming and mathematical skills before applying them across areas including cryptography, web security, Blockchain, network security, cyberlaw and ethics.
Practical laboratory work will enable students to examine cryptographic protocols and analyse systems in security lab environments. They will also investigate how attackers exploit vulnerabilities in web applications and networks and study approaches to defending against them.
The programme will examine digital privacy, cyberlaw and the ethical considerations surrounding cybersecurity decision-making.

The cybersecurity degree complements Manhattan University’s existing Computer Engineering offering, which includes concentrations in applied Artificial Intelligence and cybersecurity, as well as recently introduced Data Science and Artificial Intelligence programmes.
Students will complete the cybersecurity degree with a one-semester senior capstone project. Working in small teams, they will design, build and evaluate a complete cybersecurity solution addressing a real-world problem or client scenario.
The capstone is intended to provide experience in project planning, documentation and communication alongside students’ technical cybersecurity skills.
The Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity will be available to both first-year and transfer applicants.
