The University of Western Australia has brought cybersecurity company Red Piranha into its Global Engagement Alliance, opening opportunities for collaboration across education, research, internships and graduate placements.
The University of Western Australia (UWA) is expanding its cybersecurity education and research links through a new collaboration with Australian cybersecurity company Red Piranha.
Red Piranha has joined the university’s Global Engagement Alliance following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the IC3 Conference in Mumbai, India.
The initiative is designed to strengthen links between Western Australia and India while creating opportunities for international engagement across teaching, research and related activities.
Under the agreement, UWA and Red Piranha could collaborate on mentorship programmes, internships and graduate placements, alongside joint research activities.
The framework also covers conferences and other meetings, scholarships and fellowships, as well as support for international transnational education initiatives.
Red Piranha said the partnership would bring together cybersecurity awareness and education, with a focus on providing students, educators and communities with skills for an increasingly digital environment.
Adam Bennett, CEO of Red Piranha, said: “At Red Piranha, innovation in cybersecurity thrives on collaboration. Partnering with UWA empowers future leaders with skills and perspective to safeguard our digital future.”
The partnership comes as universities increasingly look to strengthen links between cybersecurity education, academic research and industry, providing students with opportunities to develop practical experience alongside their studies.
For UWA, the alliance provides another route for connecting teaching and research with industry expertise while supporting wider international collaboration.
The Global Engagement Alliance is intended to bring together emerging leaders from Australia and India and encourage the development of projects and relationships that strengthen ties between the two countries.
